VA Code 46.2-852 to 46.2-867
Irrespective of the maximum speeds permitted by law; any person who drives a vehicle on any highway recklessly or at a speed or in a manner so as to endanger the life, limb or property of any person shall be guilty of reckless driving.
- Driving a vehicle which is not under control.
- Passing on or at the crest of grade or on a curve.
- Driving with driver’s view obstructed or control impaired.
- Passing tow vehicles abreast.
- Driving two abreast in a single lane.
- Passing at a railroad grad crossing.
- Passing a stopped scholl bus.
- Failing to give proper signals.
- Driving too fast for highway and traffic conditions.
- Exceeding speed limit: i. 20 miles or more in excess of limit where limit is 30 MPH or less ii. 60 MPH or more where limit is 35 MPH iii. 20 miles or more where limit is 40 MPH or more iv. in excess of 80 MPH or more regardless of limit
- Racing Penalties: Penalties (discretionary with the judge)
Pentalties: (discretionary with the judge)
- Jail: Class 1 misdemeanor jail to 12 months
- Fine: Up to $2,500.00. License suspension
